The HSE School of Foreign Languages is launching a new Russian-taught online master's programme: Chinese for Intercultural Business Communication. Maria Dubinina, the Programme’s Academic Supervisor, Associate Professor and PhD (China), shares its advantages and unique features.

The International Education Observatory initiative, launched by HSE University to focus on expert evaluation, analytics, and joint scientific research, has successfully completed the formation of a research network across all BRICS nations. South Africa was the final link, with the University of Pretoria and the University of the Witwatersrand joining experts from Russia, China, India, and Brazil. 

Starting from 2025, HSE University applicants will be able to enrol in a Bachelor's programme in Game and Digital Product Development—the only programme of its kind in Russia. The course will combine design, programming, mathematics, production, management, and marketing. It will enable students to master the full cycle of digital product development from creation to effective promotion. The programme is taught in Russian.

In 2025, HSE University-St Petersburg opened the Centre for Russian Language and Culture at the School of Arts and Humanities. The centre offers various courses for international applicants, the largest of which is the 'Pre-University Programme', a Russian preparatory course for those intending to enrol in full-time bachelor's and master's programmes. In August 2024, HSE University and the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) signed a cooperation agreement, which marked the start of the double-degree Master’s programme ‘Theatre and Performing Arts Producer.’ The programme was developed jointly by the HSE Faculty of Creative Industries and the Stage Arts Producing and Management Department at GITIS.

Element Group, one of the largest developers and manufacturers of microelectronics in Russia, will become HSE University's key industrial partner in creating a new system to train specialists in high-tech industries. The training will be organised at the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (HSE MIEM).

This year, HSE University will open admission to ten new bachelor's programmes. Three of them—Architecture, Game and Digital Product Development, and Chemistry of New Materials—have recently been approved by HSE University's Academic Council. Here, we provide more details on these programmes.

On January 25, Russian Students' Day, HSE University-St Petersburg will open a new educational space in the building of the Rope Shop of the Red Nailer factory on Vasilievsky Island. The monument of constructivism, which was designed by the prominent architect Yakov Chernikhov, will become a centre for the development of IT, engineering, design and media communications. Approximately four thousand students will study in the building.
