400 million roubles

is the minimum amount that could be saved per year for each gigawatt of electricity if new generation power-generating units were installed at coal-fired thermal power plants.

The creation of power-generating units designed for a steam pressure of more than 35 mPa at a temperature of more than 700 degrees will allow power stations to increase efficiency to 52-55% in the future (presently, it does not exceed 40%). This will reduce specific CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by 16-22%.

This and other technologies to improve the efficiency of thermal energy are the subject of a new issue of the ‘Global Technology Trends’ newsletter published (in Russian) by the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK).
